Scarf #6
I had a totally different scarf in mind until I was perusing the Garnet Hill catalog and stopped and stared at this beauty of a scarf...
I don't have any cashmere laying around or any fleece. So off to the stash cave I went.
After a little trial and error I came up with a pattern.
Cut this on the fold, try to make it the same width the entire way until the tip--then you will want to taper it.
I cut three layers out and made each one a little smaller than the previous one.
I made coordinating bias tape and sewed the layers together on the back edge. The bias tape will make the back edge straight--making the front appear to have a ruffle.
This fabric came from a pile I inherited from my husbands-cousins-grandma. It is from Scotland, I think it is the Cameron plaid. It had a little note pinned to it say "Cameron" and another word I can't figure out.
I made this one a lot longer. Instead of a bias tape edge, the layers are zig-zagged together.
It is a fun scarf to wear.
I love how each layer curls slightly.
Isn't it pretty. My plan is to head to the fabric store and buy some fleece just to make this scarf again. I'm sure this would be a great scarf out of knit too.
I hope you have enjoyed scarf week and I can't wait to show you next weeks theme.
WOW. I wish I had that gorgeous CAMERON plaid or fun houndstooth check in my stash! Your scarves turned out amazing! The rouched scarves rocked, too. Loved the grey t-shirt one with the wording -- so fun.
