Kite Wreath Tutorial:
Supplies:
Skeen of Delft Blue Yarn
Straw Wreath
Green Spanish Moss
Felt (white, pink, yellow)
ribbon
twine
glue gun
Step 1:
Wrap the yarn around the wreath. I used a pin to keep the yarn in place.
To cover any of the wreath showing, I wrapped the yarn around twice. You can see in the picture where I still need to cover it with another layer.
This would look great with a flower on it--but on to the next step.
Step 2:
Hot Glue the spanish moss on to the bottom portion of the wreath.
I found this at walmart, it is died green. There is a lot of easter "grass" in stores now, I'm sure that would work too.
It looks like the wreath has a green beard now.
Step 3:
Cut and attach Clouds & Kite
Cut two clouds and two diamonds in contrasting colors.
I didn't have any white felt on hand so I used white fleece.
When you glue the first one on glue two squewers under it sticking out. This will help the second cloud to stay stiff and look like the clouds are just floating by.
Cut the lighter felt in half vertically and horizontally. Glue on one top and one bottom piece.
I used yellow and pink silk ribbon. Every kite needs a tail or it won't fly.
Hot glue the tail to the kite along with a long piece of twine. This is the string for the kite. Glue the kite on to the wreath.
I wound the end of the twine on a piece of a toothpick for the polly pocket to hold.
Step 4:
Polly Pocket Dress
The skirt is made in a similar way as the circle skirt, the top was made like a poncho.
Pull the top over, carefully glue it in place (without gluing the doll), slip on the skirt and glue to the top. Cinch with a ribbon. This ribbon matches the ribbon on the tail of the kite.
Glue the doll in the spanish moss holding the string to the kite.
Hang the wreath.
Viola! You have a Kite Wreath!
I couldn't decide if I liked it better on the yellow stucco or
The green door.
